Can I Make a Doctor Apologize?

Making a doctor apologize in Indiana is not something that I can do through the civil justice system. I’m really set up to try to compensate you monetarily. However, the Indiana legislature actually put through a piece of legislature called Saying Sorry Works. And this allows physicians to say they’re sorry in the postoperative period when patients really want to hear that, and then it’s actually protected from ever being introduced into trial. So they get to say, sorry, kind of for free, if you will. It’s an opportunity for them to show empathy and not ever it be held against them in any way in terms of liability.
